Past Pupils Return to St Mary’s before All-Ireland U21 Final
On Friday 6th September Mrs Smart, welcomed past pupils, Neil McManus, David Kearney & Conor McAlister back to St Mary’s for a special assembly to celebrate the boys getting to the All Ireland U21 Final due to be played in Semple Stadium, Thurles on Saturday 14th September 2013.
The boys took a question and answer session with the children followed by photographs and then classroom visits to sign autographs on hurls, flags, sliothars and shirts.
The excitement was tremendous with everyone cheering, music playing and flags flying. It was a very proud day for all at the school to welcome back our sporting heroes. The boys were presented with a Good Luck card that was made by the children and signed by everyone at St Mary’s
Good luck to Neil and all of the Under 21 team, especially the boys from St Mary’s, Eoghan, Paddy, David & Conor. We will be watching closely and hope to have them all back again in school with the cup and their winners medals.
Past Pupil Sambo McNaughton visits St Mary’s
Mrs Smart also welcomed Terence ‘Sambo’ McNaughton to St Mary’s to congratulate him on being honoured as a member of the ‘Stars of the 80’s’ Team at Croke Park at the All Ireland Hurling Final which was played on Sunday 8th September. Sambo also took part in the question and answer session and signed autographs. Sambo is a familiar face at St Mary’s as he takes weekly coaching sessions with the children. Congratulations to Sambo on this wonderful honour and we hope he had a great day at Croke Park.
