Ulster Branch, IFA & GAA host fundraising session for clubs
The IRFU Ulster Branch, IFA and Ulster GAA came together on Wednesday night in Ballymena to host a Fundraising training session for their clubs.
Over 45 volunteers from 27 clubs, including Ruairí Óg CLG, attended the seminar that took place in St. Patrick’s College, Ballymena.
The joint training is part of the Department of Social Development funded ‘Sport in the Community’ programme that is managed by the three codes.
Heather Wright, Fundraising Manager at the Irish FA said: “Fundraising is essential to the survival of sport in Northern Ireland. We hope this fundraising seminar will build the capacity of the clubs to enable them to apply for more funding, and highlight the benefits of partnership work and collaboration with other sports and other community service providers within their communities.”
Charity Bank, Lloyds TSB Foundation and BT My Donate provided information on fundraising opportunities and initiatives, and Sport NI and Community Foundation NI hosted workshops on preparing clubs for funding; and tips on filling in application forms. Bernard Thompson from Seaview Enterprises gave an insightful case study into their fundraising journey.
Further training and support around fundraising and other club development needs will continue from each of the sports for their own clubs. Clubs are encouraged to keep in touch with their governing bodies to hear about further opportunities.
