After the recent county final victory over Loughgiel, Ruairi Og face Kevin Lynch's Dungiven in the Ulster Club Hurling Semi Final on Sunday 12th of October. The Antrim champions will go into the contest in confident mood after a stunning second half performance blew away the Shamrocks to record Cushendall's third county title in four years. Cushendall will again look to the backs for inspiration, with all six, Aaron Graffin, Odhran Scullion, Micky Mc Cambridge, Kevin Elliott, Neil Mc Manus and Donal Mc Naughton producing excellent performances against Loughgiel. In addition to this both mid fielders and 4 forwards got on the score sheet, with the on form Shane Mc Naughton top scoring in the final with an impressive 5 points from play.
However Cushendall know all too well the threat Dungiven pose having taken the Ruairi's to an Ulster final replay in 2006. A strong physical team galvanised by the superb Hinphy brothers, Liam and Kevin, Aaron Mc Cluskey, Emmet Mc Keever and the irrepressible Geoffrey Mc Gonigle, they have recorded three Derry championships in a row, no mean feet when you consider the strength of clubs such as Lavey, Swatragh and Banagher. An excellent match in prospect then with the winners more than capable of going all the way to the Ulster title.
