All the best to all our teams for the summer ahead - injuries permitting, this is the best senior side I've seen us produce (and I've seen every championship winning side we've produced, albeit as a wean for the 1st one). We've a balance about this team that we've lacked previously - hurlers all over the pitch who could play half a dozen positions if needed.
Keep the focus lads, and we can go places with this team.

The u16 camogs travelled to Derry to face Bellaghy Wolfe Tones on 31/5/08 minus the quartet of Catriona McKay, Nuala McQuillan, Laura McMullan and Aileen Connolly.
Conditions were ideal and the match started 14 a side as Bellaghy had a few no shows in their ranks. Both teams struggled to break each other down and chances were few a far between.
The 1st score came from Orlagh O'Hara on the 12 minute mark who guided over a 50 metre free after Emma McCambridge was fouled. Then when Emma McCambridge was sent tumbling again Orlagh O'Hara slotted the ball over the 'black spot' to put Cushendall 2 points up. On the stroke off half time Bellaghy got their 1st score of the game when a long range free went straight to the Cushendall net to leave the half time score :
Cushendall 0.2 Bellaghy 1.0
The second half was only 4 minutes old when Orlagh O'Hara scored her and Cushendall's 1st score from play with a fine individual effort.
5 minutes later Caoimhe McManus rifled the ball to the Bellaghy net after fine work by Ruth Haughey and Soracha Cosgrove.
Bellaghy then upped the gears and start to control proceedings and they added 2 fine scores, but as in the 1st half they struggled to hit the target and these proved to be their final scores of the match.
Entering the last 10 minutes and a point up, Cushendall closed out the game with firstly another point for Orlagh O'Hara and the final score was a fine effort by Emma McCambridge to leave the final score :
Cushendall 1-5 Bellaghy 1-2
How they played:
Noeleen Cosgrove was exceptional in goals making 3 saves and using her puck outs to good effect. In defence Anne Burke was rock solid as usual and Joan Kearney and Rachel Erwin defended resolutely as well. In midfield Colleen Patterson dominated this sector from start to finish with a great display of tackling, striking and link play.
Up front were scores were hard to come by, a mountan of work was went through. Soracha Cosgroce and Caoimhe McAleese were excellent in the wing forward positions. Ruth Haughey who is coming on leaps and bounds this year, put in a great shift of tackling back and winning ball and always took the right options. Caoimhe McManus scored a fine goal which was her reward for a fine display, but the player of the match was Orlagh O'Hara who top scored with 0-4 and went through a great deal of work in midfield.

The helmet scheme has now started. This scheme is for members who are beginning to hurl, not for members just looking for a change of helmet. Each helmet will be subsidised by the club and will cost £30. Anybody wishing to avail of this scheme please contact myself, Aiden Mc Ateer or Ali Mc Quillan.
