On a damp night our senior camogs went to Creggan to play them for double points for ACL Div 2.

Cushendall got of to a blistering start knocking in 5-2 in the 1st half but conceding 1-4.  Players to the fore in this half were Michelle McKillop, Karen McErlaine, Terri McNaughton, Maria McManus, Helena McAllister, Maureen McAllister and Laura McMullan.

The 2nd half was more of the same with Cushendall dominating but a lack of ruthlessness in their shooting will have to be rectified if the girls want to kick on and win the championship this year.

Final score Creggan 3-5 Cushendall 8-6

How we played

The good thing about us is that we had the ability to score an abundance of goals but i'm worried that against a better calibre of team we won't get as many chances and therefore the girls have to sharpen up their point taking.

Player of the match

My player of the match goes to Karen McErlaine who cleared numerous balls out of defence and was never found wanting in any of the exchanges.

Team

1.Ciara Campbell 2.Kirsty McAuley 3.Joanne McErlaine 4.Terri McNaughton 5.Karen McErlaine 6.Maria McManus 7.Cliodhna McKillop 8.Michelle McKillop 9.Alex McLaughlin 10.Siobhan McAllister 11.Tessa McDonnell 12.Naomi McCurry 13.Helena McAllister 14.Maureen McAllister 15.Laura McMullan.
Subs: Noeleen Cosgrove, Nuala McQuillan, Catriona McKay, Fionnula McDonnell, Eimear O' Hara and Patricia McNaughton
Thank you for your report - I'm sure the girls appreciate the way in which you are raising the profile of the camogie club on this website!

Loughgiel 6.16 Ruairi Og 1.1

On a hot night at Pairc Mhuire, our U18 Camogs ran into a very talented and strong Loughgiel team back boned by five girls that are big players for their Senior side.

Loughgiel led from start to finish and this was due to the play off Emma Connolly, Emma McMullan, Ashling McFadden and Racquel McCarry who were outstanding in the opening 20 mins with Loughgiel racing into a 4-12 to no score lead.

Colleen Patterson had to go off injured around this time and this lead to a defensive reshuffle, with the impressive Laura McMullan moving from Louise McKeown onto Ashling McFadden , Catriona McKay moving onto Louise McKeown, Fionnula McDonnell moving to the three-quarter line and Rachel Erwin going to top of the right.

To me it seemed like our girls were not at the races and were in awe of Loughgiel in these opening minutes and it was only in the last 5 minutes of the half did they start to play like they could.  Alex McLaughlin added the only score iof the half for the Ruairi Ógs within this period which was a point.

Whatever was said in the home changing room. seemed to spur the girls on and they starting getting 1st to the ball and mounted a series of attacks that broke down at the wrong moment.  Sub Rachel Erwin added the Cushendall goal.  Final score Shamrocks 6-16 Ruairi ogs 1-1

How we Played:

The 1st half was a non-event for our girls with only Laura McMullan playing anywhere near to her full potential but in the 2nd half we came out and matched Loughgiel for long periods of the half and the likes of Alex McLaughlin, Tessa McDonnell, Maria McManus and Siobhan McAllister led from the front along with Anne Burke and Laura McMullan.

Player of the Match:

For me the only played that was consistant for the whole 60 minutes was Laura McMullan who had a very good performance on Loughgiel danger woman Louise McKeown.

NB.  However it is not all doom and gloom for this team because we dont lose any players for next year and when you add in the players that were missing due to injury, holidays etc notably Bronagh Hegarty, Orlagh O'Hara, Emma McCambridge, Shauna Healy, Soracha Cosgrove and Rachel Corbett, a final appearance next year shouldn't be out of the question

Team:
1.N Cosgrove 2.A Burke 3.C Campbell 4.L McMullan 5.C Patterson 6.M McManus 7. S McAllister 8.N McQuillan 9.A McLaughlin 10.Caoimhe McAleese 11.T McDonnell 12.C McKay 13.F McDonnell 14.P McNaughton 15. E O' Hara.
Subs Used: Rachel Erwin, Sharon Litster, Ruth Haughey, Joan Kearney.  Unused: Bronagh Hegarty.

Once again thank you for yor report especially as it was on a game that the Ruairí Óg camogs lost!

Ruairi og Cushendall 3-7 Loughgiel 2-7

On a very warm night in Pairc Mhuire, Cushendall and Loughgiel squared up in the All County league Div 2.

This was a great game of fast paced, hard hitting camogie that had the crowd on the edge of their seats right to the final whistle.

Both teams should be commended on the standard of play shown and the skill levels were a joy to see.

Our girls upped the ante when it looked like the game was running away from them and the introduction of Club Captain Helena McAllister with 12 minutes to go from the bench was a masterstroke by the management team as she plundered 2 goals.

This was a good result and leaves our senior camogs unbeaten after 7 matches.

Scorers:
Helena McAllister 2-0
Naomi McCurry 1-2
Maureen McAllister 0-2
Tessa McDonnell 0-1
Alex McLaughlin 0-1
Brianna McDonnell 0-1

How we played:

We can be pleased with result and the only problems were we shot too many wides and dropped too many balls into the keeper's hands.

Players to impress were Joanne McErlaine, Brianna McDonnell, Naomi McCurry and Alex McLaughlin.

The Player of the Match is given to two girls today for their performances.  Ciara Campbell was outstanding in goals and Terri McNaughton was colossal in corner back, clearing numerous balls from her position.

How they lined out:
1.Ciara Campbell 2.Cliodhna McKillop 3.Joanne McErlaine 4.Terri McNaughton 5.Karen McErlaine 6.Maria McManus 7. Siobhan McAllister 8.Michelle McKillop 9.Alex McLaughlin 10.Tessa McDonnell 11.Brianna McDonnell 12.Naomi McCurry 13.Laura McMullan 14.Maureen McAllister 15. Shauna Cosgrove.
Subs: Bronagh Hegarty for Shauna Cosgrove and Helena McAllister for Siobhan McAllister

Next up home fixture next thursday against Creggan so ALL support welcome
Once again many thanks for a fine report!

Ruairí Óg 3-1 Ballycastle 1-3

What a match our girls played, led from start to finish with a fine display of hard, skillful camogie.  This was a hard game and both teams should be commended on the standard and skills shown and the crowd were definitely entertained even though there were few scores registered.

Great performances from everyone, especially Siobhan McAllister, Laura McMullan, Alex McLaughlin and Maria McManus.  The player of the match was Colleen Patterson who was a rock in her wing half back position.

Scorers: Alex McLaughlin 1-1
Tessa McDonnell 1-0
The 3rd goal was an own goal by a Ballycastle defender.

HOW THEY LINED OUT:

1.Noeleen Cosgrove 2.Anne Burke 3. Ciara Campbell 4. Laura McMullan 5.Siobhan McAllister 6. Bronagh Hegarty 7.Colleen Patterson 8.Nuala McQuillan 9.Alex McLaughlin 10.Tessa McDonnell 11.Maria McManus 12. Caoimhe McAleese 13.Fionnula McDonnell 14. Catriona McKay 15.Eimear O' Hara
